What motivates you?
How do you get in the zone to get things done?
I want to hear what drives you as a human being to get up and make steps towards your goals and life in general.

I can create.
Every artist is a creator. Musicians, painters, dancers, writers, inventors, architects, etc... Creation (this is not a religious conversation) goes against natural logical progressions. We have a limited amount of resources. Wood, dirt, water, matter, energy -- It's all limited. You can measure the amount of energy used to strike a string, hit a drum, or blow air into an instrument. You can measure the length between vibrations in notes. You can measure the amount of electricity used in each thought. You can measure the universe in it's scientific entirety. But you can't measure the productivity of the brain in concrete numbers. But... My thoughts don't have weight, yet they do exist. We'll call this quality of weightless existence "spirituality". My emotions don't have mass. My mind isn't my brain, thus you can't measure my mind. My mind thinks differently than any other mind, even though my brain works just like EVERYONE else's brain. My mind takes nothing and creates "spirituality". Art and spirituality work hand in hand. I am spiritual in the religious, common sense of the word; yet, my spirituality isn't limited to that. I can have a spiritual emotion and I can use science (physical energy) to build an environment that relays my emotion into your mind/spirit. I can strike a chord that is built on energy and mass and vibration in order to create an emotion that is built on a weightless, scienceless, massless component. Science can describe ingredients, but not emotions.
Spirituality is what motivates me. I can connect with people I don't know. I can communicate with people that don't speak my language. I can relate with people who share no commonality. I can do all of this because I believe in what I do as an artist.
If you're a janitor, or taxi driver, or teacher, or hair stylist, or husband/wife, or student, or whatever; do it like it's your art. Communicate by finding the benefit of your individual presence and focus on creating a connection through your opportunities. It doesn't take an "artistic" field to be an artist. It takes creation to be an artist. The only thing we can truly create is the human connection -- emotions. We can use ingredients around us to build a scientific environment that helps us to share love, peace, joy, conviction, happiness, gratitude, etc.
Be creative.

What's everyone listening to at the moment? What album? Artist/Band? Who's the drummer?
I'm currently listening to the album "Asymmetry" by the band Karnivool, which is from Perth Australia. This album has one of the best drum sounds I've heard in a very long time! The whole album is organic and dynamic. Their drummer Steve Judd kills it on this record! His grooves are done tastefully and he imply's such an awesome concept of dynamics in his playing. I just love the way this album sounds! Period! "Asymmetry" has inspired me lately to try new things behind the kit and in our modern world of processed music it's so hard for me to find that inspiration.
By the way, all the drum tracks were played straight out with no sound replacements.
Enough of me rambling on. I'm always down to check out new music so lets have fun with this!
I'm posting this YouTube video of the full album "Asymmetry" if you want to check it out.

if you didn't feel unstoppable when you grabbed the sticks the first time, you're not a drummer!

I'm listening to a German Band called 3A, they are 3 Brothers at the age of 15-17. Drummer is Aaron Lovac and woah he's so good.
I know you'll not understand the lyrics but listen to it through the instrumental is awesome, especially the drums :
If you haven't Spotify:
